Now Mechanics, part of Noweyung’s Now Trades programs is where the guys are learning mechanical and maintenance skills from a qualified Tradesman. Ray, one of the program’s Mentor and Educators has a passion for racing lawnmowers and is part of the Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Racing Association (AROLMRA) and he brought his mower into the workshop for the day.
The guys all had a go at taking apart the maintenance sections to see all the mechanical parts and how they function, then got to sit in it and start it up. Part of the day was talking about safety working on the mowers, correct tools to use for maintenance and the importance of maintenance on machines, costs involved with racing and racing with a disability. Ray recently raced this mower and came 1st in his division. The group were able to watch his race online to see the racer in action.
Noweyung’s Now Mechanical group would like to source some more tools to build our skills.

- Measuring Tapes
- Screwdrivers
- Pliers
- Small Screws, nuts and bolts
Any electrical tools will be “tested and tagged” by our “Now Electrical” group but more on that another day!
